The weather is warming up now, but my bill still seems high. What kinds of things should I be looking for to lower it?

The first thing you want to look at when analyzing your bill is the meter read date near the perforation line on your bill. It will say something like, “31 days of service from 1/15/10 to 2/15/10”.

What is the facilities charge that appears on my bill each month and what does it pay for?

Clearwater Power Company’s service territory is more rural and has a lower population density than the typical investor owned utility (IOU)

How much does it cost to install a wind turbine like the one just installed at the Clearwater Power Office?

We just finished installing a Skystream 3.7 turbine on a 45 foot monopole tower outside our Lewiston Office. This is phase two of our Net Metering Demonstration Project.

When I drove by the Clearwater Power office building in Lewiston I saw solar panels being installed. Has the price come down enough to make solar power competitive with grid power?

The answer depends on what you factor into your analysis. If you look strictly at dollars, it would be cheaper to buy power from the grid.

What is the difference in efficiency between portable, plug-in type electric heaters and wall mounted electric heaters?

There is essentially no difference in efficiency. All electric resistance heaters are 100% efficient at converting electrical energy to heat energy.
