If there is a planned power outage that affects me, will the SmartHub app inform me of the event?
Yes! Whether it is a future planned outage or an unplanned event currently happening, there is a notification at the top of the home page on the SmartHub App. If the app is not open, it sends a push notification to your phone or mobile device.
However, there is an option to turn off this push notification feature in your preferences, so you’ll want to make sure you are set to receive them if that is your preference. You will also receive notifications of outage updates, such as a new estimate for restoration time, as they are available. You can use the SmartHub app to know if the power is on or off, even when you are away from home. If you want more details about an outage, you can click on the outage map in the app.
SmartHub has many other features besides outage notification. You can pay your bills, review your payment history, monitor your energy use on a monthly or daily basis, update your contact information and view PDF copies of your bills. You can even use the SmartHub app to submit an “Ask Bob” question.
